The Journey
Born in Toronto in 1992 to a Scottish mother and Persian father, Raksha displayed an instinct for creating from an early age. His creative interests evolved from illustration and painting into increasingly sculptural forms, with woodworking and soapstone carving during his teenage years revealing a particular affinity for three-dimensional work.
In 2012, Raksha enrolled in the Jewelry Arts program at George Brown College in Toronto, beginning his formal education in traditional goldsmithing, gemmology, and jewelry design.
While still a student, he founded Toronto Grillz in 2014, a small bespoke atelier specializing in handcrafted gold teeth. What began in his father’s garage quickly attracted an international clientele, earning recognition for both its craftsmanship and distinctive design at the beginning of an era in which Instagram was rapidly changing the way independent designers could present their work to the world.
MAISON RAKSHA emerged as the natural evolution of that practice: a namesake house dedicated to fine jewelry, bespoke commissions, and one-of-a-kind creations. From its earliest years, the house developed a recognizable visual language defined by carefully considered proportions, meticulous craftsmanship, and a distinctive approach to product photography. Long before the curated social-media profile became commonplace among luxury brands, imagery, color, and presentation were treated as an extension of the objects themselves.
During these same years, Raksha travelled extensively, meeting many of the clients and collectors who would become part of the house's international community. Along the way, a fascination with horology developed into a serious pursuit. Between 2015 and present day, he assembled an eclectic collection of rare and unusual vintage timepieces, with particular emphasis on references distinguished by unconventional design, scarcity, provenance, and character.
Raksha's creations have since been collected by internationally recognized performing artists, athletes, cultural figures, and even Royal families while his knowledge of rare horology has attracted the attention of collectors and leading publications. Together, these disciplines have established MAISON RAKSHA as a distinctive voice within the contemporary luxury landscape.
Today, MAISON RAKSHA operates at the intersection of high jewelry and rare horology, creating exceptional objects for a global clientele united by an appreciation for craftsmanship, individuality, and enduring beauty. Alongside its jewelry practice, the house serves collectors in search of rare, unusual, and historically compelling vintage timepieces that are increasingly difficult to source elsewhere.
Since its founding, MAISON RAKSHA has been guided by an unwavering commitment to excellence.
